Minor league All-Star game season is now in full swing, as evaluators again take the upside (in theory, a field full of prospects) with the downside (the smallest of sample sizes in a red-light setting). When the High-A California and Carolina leagues get together for their yearly contest, the upside is even a bit stronger, as you’re hopefully getting the best talent from two leagues on one field.
This year’s contest was in Wilmington, DE, home of the Wilmington Blue Rocks, a Kansas City affiliate. What follows are some observations on the batting practice session and the contest, with an emphasis on how what was on the field might translate to your fantasy roster in several years.
