L.J. Hoes (OF, BAL)
The Orioles recalled the 22-year-old from Triple-A and he’ll serve as outfield depth for the remainder of the season. The right-handed hitting Hoes began the year in Double-A as a CF and was later promoted to Triple-A in early June where he played mostly in an outfield corner. He is a pure hitter with a solid, but unspectacular offensive package. Hoes’ power is below average and failed to match the 9 HR he posted in ’11. He gets better each year in different facets of the game based upon his patient approach, and balanced, level swing. He has enough bat speed to lace doubles to the gaps and he makes good contact with excellent barrel awareness and keen hand-eye coordination. Hoes will likely not hit...
