The Rockies summoned the 21-year-old left-handed hitter from High-A to serve as a starting outfielder over the last four games of the season. Ortega is a short and athletic outfielder who has shown continuous improvement throughout his career. Mostly known for his speed and defense, he has turned himself into a solid hitter with a nice approach at the plate. He makes excellent contact while showing a more professional approach. Ortega’s swing path and strength likely won’t lead to much power down the road, but he has enough punch in his swing to keep defenses honest.
