Paco Rodríguez (LHP, LA)
The 21-year-old was a second round pick in this year’s draft out of Florida and is the first player from that class to reach the majors. Rodriguez was expected to get to the big leagues fairly early, but this is quicker than expected. He was a reliever in college and continued in that role as a pro. He thrives with an 88-94 mph fastball that he throws from a ¾ slot, but it is his cutter that provides him with the most success. Rodriguez battles right-handed hitters with it and induces weak contact. The rest of his arsenal consists of a slider and occasional change-up.
