Drew Smyly (LHP, DET)
The Tigers have recalled the 22-year-old left-hander and he'll make his major league debut when he starts on April 12 against the Rays. Smyly was a second round pick in the '10 draft and earned Detroit's Minor League Pitcher of the Year award in his first pro season in '11. He exhibits polish with a deep arsenal and prefers to pitch to contact despite his high strikeout rate. He can register strikeouts with a number of offerings, including a slider and curveball that grade as major league average. His fastball velocity is fine for a lefty—87-93 mph—and it shows excellent movement.
