David Hess (RHP, BAL)
Hess is a 6’2”, 180-pound right-hander out of Tennessee Technological University, drafted in the fifth round in 2014. The 24-year-old has a four-pitch mix with no plus, swing-and-miss offering. His FB is his best pitch, but it’s an average offering that comes in the low-90s and results in a lot of fly balls. The rest of his repertoire (SL, CB, CU) are all below-average to fringe-average, with the CU likely his second best. Hess was third in strikeouts in the Eastern League last year, and posted a respectable 3.85 ERA, but that Dom rate is unlikely to hold up at the highest level....
