SPECULATOR: Summer surgers and faders, 2022

Dog days. A time for summer vacations, weekends where you might be burnt out from 19 straight FAAB periods (7 more to go!), for that "other sport" taking over our news feeds and leaguemates' attention, and (for the purposes of this article) a time when preconceived notions of certain players might be hiding behind recent gains or slumps.

We might normally use the Last 31 Day (L31) splits from our Stats and Projections files for this "recent changes" type of analysis, but that's an admittedly arbitrary endpoint. Instead, here's a weekly look at league-wide power numbers—home runs per barrel (HR/Brl%) and home runs per flyball (HR/FB)—to give us a more relevant time frame to use when the run-scoring environment began to change:
