SPECULATOR: September slowdowns, 2022

We've all been there. You're in the thick of a race in September—or even worse, your league's postseason—only to see news that one of your better starters has been shut down for the season. We know it’s coming, so why not plan ahead?

This week, we’ll speculate on several SP pushing their innings envelopes who could be candidates for a late-season shutdown (or at least slowdown). The takeaway here is two-fold: redraft players should start looking for Plan Bs or dangling these pitchers on the open market, while keeper/dynasty folks playing for 2022 should weave the potential shutdown risk into trade negotiations with stretch-run contenders.
