SPECULATOR: 2020 reflections

It's time to put a bow on this wild, wacky (and short!) 2020 season and reflect on how things shook out. Our disclaimer at the bottom of the Speculator each week prefaces our calls as "20% plays," but is our actual hit rate higher or (gulp) lower than that?

With just a few days left in the season, we have answers to a number of questions posed here back in February and March… and July. We ran some preseason columns speculating on 2020’s long shot stat leaders, first-round players, and the next Nick Pivetta and Jesús Aguilar. Today, we’ll revisit those "out on a limb" calls—not only to see what went right or wrong—but to see how things actually played out, dropping in some 2021 takeaways along the way.

It's been another fun year...

Almost!
