In-season pitch mix changes, 2024

Earlier this year, we looked at early Change Score risers to help identify which pitchers have changed their pitch mix the most from 2023 through early May of 2024. With two months of fresh data since that post, it's time for an update to see who has switched things up during the season, and whether it's working.

As a quick refresher, Change Score is the total difference in pitch usage across a pitcher's entire arsenal. For example, if a pitcher starts throwing a new sinker 30% of the time and throws his four-seamer 30% less to make room for it, his Change Score is 30 + 30 = 60. It works on a 0-200 scale.

An important caveat: a pitch mix change isn't always a good thing! You'll see examples of this below (red = bad in the chart), but...
