Injury: Herniated cervical (neck) disc; surgery on May 23.
DL date: May 22
Estimated DL time: Recovery is 12-16 weeks, likely ending his 2014 season.
Estimated 2014 effect upon return: Out for the rest of the year.

José Abreu (1B, CHW)
Injury: Posterior tibial tendinitis. The posterior tibial tendon runs down the inner side of the ankle just under the "ankle bone" (medial malleolus) and attaches to bones in the foot. The inflammation in the tendon causes weakness in the foot; to the point the player may have "flat foot." This causes pain and a reduction in function. In Abreu’s case it is something he has had approximately four weeks or so, according to a Chicago source. The White Sox hope some rest,...
