Injury: Non-displaced radial fracture –non-pitching elbow.
DL date: April 8
Estimated DL time: The good news is the fracture was non-displaced, meaning the bones are in alignment and he doesn’t need surgery. He’ll need 7-8 weeks to recover.
Estimated 2013 effect upon return: None, because it was to his non-throwing elbow.
Zach Greinke (RHP, LA)
Injury: Fractured left clavicle (collar bone).
DL date: April 12
Estimated DL time: Two months. Greinke will need surgery to insert a rod into the clavicle to stabilize it and help facilitate the healing process.
Estimated 2013 effect upon return: None.
Gordon Beckham (2B, CHW)
Injury: Fractured hamate bone, left wrist. The bone will be removed during surgery.
