DR HQ: 2013 injury risks: Starting pitchers

Roy Halladay (RHP, PHI)
Last year one of the most durable starters in recent memory finally showed some cracks in the outer shell. He struggled with a strained lat muscle and loss of velocity. This spring, Halladay has struggled with a stomach virus which has cost him about ten pounds and some strength which could be part of the problem. After throwing more than 200 innings six straight seasons, Halladay managed 153 last year. He has almost 2,700 innings under his belt and there is no doubt some wear and tear on his arm, elbow and body. Until he gets back on a mound in April and we see where his velocity and the movement of his pitches are, it;s difficult to predict more problems this season.
Draft Day Risk: Medium
