Until there’s more information, it’s difficult to assess how much time he’ll miss. From the video, it looks like he was hit on the proximal phalange, which is the second bone from the tip of the thumb. That would be a positive, as it’s not as involved with the swing as is the base of the thumb. Figure a minimum of six weeks, possibly more if there’s displacement or multiple fractures.
