PT TOMORROW: NL West—2016 bullpen tour

San Diego Padres

Fernando Rodney (RHP, SD) signed a one-year deal to be the team's closer despite a brutal 4.74 ERA and 1.40 WHIP over 63 innings in 2015. Rodney's 4.05 xERA last season offers little hope for much improvement, which is further reflected by declining Dom, velocity, and a 4.0 Ctl. Rodney's ability to keep the ball on the ground remains one of his last attractive traits, but the 38-year-old's odds of making it through the year with the role aren't great.

Our 2016 projections (shown below) offer a few names to consider should Rodney falter:

Name SV IP ERA WHIP Ctl Dom Cmd GB% BPV MM Code
=================  ==  ==  ====  ====  ===  ====  ===  ===  ===  ========
Fernando Rodney    25  58  3.88  1.36...

Almost!
