PT TOMORROW: NL East—ATL 5th SP again in flux

Atlanta Braves

Mike Foltynewicz (RHP, ATL) was placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 1, with right elbow soreness. Tests revealed bone spurs in the elbow, but there was no damage to any ligaments or tendons. The hope is that he’ll be back in a couple weeks. In the meantime, either Bud Norris (RHP, ATL) or John Gant (RHP, ATL) will assume his spot in the starting rotation.

Norris, who was ousted from the starting rotation after a disastrous April, filled in on short notice for Foltynewicz’s first missed start on June 4 and pitched admirably (5 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 4 BB, 2 K). At first glance, it looks like Norris stepped up his game with the transition to the bullpen, as a 1.96 ERA and 1.20 WHIP in 18.1 IP is surely nothing...

Almost!
