PT TOMORROW: NL East—The Riddler

Miami Marlins

Marlins starting shortstop J.T. Riddle (SS, MIA) is off to a hot start, with two home runs in his first seven at-bats. This goes without saying—but we’re going to say it anyway—don’t expect him to keep up this power display. Riddle produced a 81/87 PX/xPX in 2018, good for 9 HR in 308 AB. Although he posted a 117 SPD score, his 4% SBO and 0 SB were reflected in his 0 RSPD. A below-average 92 HctX completes this uninspiring profile. At least he probably won’t sink your average coming off a .256 xBA.

All that is to say Riddle has yet to solve major league pitching, and he doesn’t exactly have a stranglehold on the starting job. But he also doesn’t have anyone really pushing him at SS. His biggest competition for playing time...

Almost!
