PT TOMORROW: NL Central—A eulogy for Matt Carpenter's 2019 season

St. Louis Cardinals

Coming off a league-winning performance in 2018, Matt Carpenter (3B, STL) had fantasy managers ready to invest entering 2019. At this point, it should be clear that performance isn’t coming. That clarity came in the past week when Tommy Edman (3B/OF, STL) drew three consecutive starts ahead of Carpenter at third base. Not only can this serve as a eulogy for Carpenter’s 2019 season, it’s also a space to spend some time pondering his role on the team heading into 2020.
