PT TOMORROW: NL Central: Morton nearing return

Charlie Morton (RHP, PIT), who underwent hip surgery in September, is finally getting back up to speed, and will begin a rehab assignment May 2. During spring training, the team was thinking he may be ready to slot into the rotation by mid-April, but that was put on hold when he gave up 17 runs in 17 innings, with a 6:10 K:BB ratio. He was then sent back to extended spring training, where he has been progressing towards his return.

Morton is an extreme ground ball pitcher that has put up a 3.52 ERA across 46 starts the past two seasons, allowing just 15 home runs during that time. Assuming he's healthy, he'll be a welcome addition to the staff.
