Ke’Bryan Hayes (3B, PIT) has had a nice debut with the Pirates (111 HctX, 171 Spd, 134 PX, 69 BPV) and it’s clear that he fits into the team’s plans for next year and beyond. While it also seems like a lock that he’d find a home at the hot corner, Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic reported earlier this summer that the team had contemplated the idea of moving Hayes to second base. Given that Hayes has won the minor league gold-glove at third base, the idea appears to be a non-starter. However, the puzzle pieces of the current and future Pirates’ infields suggest there could be something to the idea.
