PT TOMORROW: AL Central—Duffey descends; to battle Berrios

Tyler Duffey (RHP, MIN) pitched his way out of the rotation with 10 ER in 12.1 IP at 2016 spring training, but he may have been helped along by Ricky Nolasco's (RHP, MIN) refusal to accept a bullpen assignment. Nolasco finished the spring with 20 H and 11 ER in 17.1 IP, and his final ERA was over 5.00 in the 2014 and 2015 regular seasons, so there's a chance MIN will need another starter sooner rather than later.

Duffey could return after some Triple-A seasoning, as general manager Terry Ryan told mlb.com March 29 that the demotion was an opportunity for fine tuning and improving his consistency.
