Or do we come about all knowing by observation and experience? This ancient rivalry makes Yankees/Red Sox look more like White Sox/Marlins.

An aspect of this schism is found in baseball talent evaluation: quants vs. scouts. Should advanced metrics and models hold sway, or must we have actual eyes on a player and the training to assess his talents as they unfold in the tangible realm?
