NEWS: The Yankees acquired LHP Ryan Weathers from the Marlins for minor leaguers OF Dillon Lewis, OF Brendan Jones, IF Dylan Jasso and IF Juan Matheus.
IMPACT: High
BHQ SPIN: Weathers is under team control through the 2028 season, so this is a long-term play as much as it is a short-term one. However, in the near term, the Yankees do have an available slot in their rotation, given that the recoveries of LHP Carlos Rodón (bone spur/loose bodies in elbow) and RHP Gerrit Cole (Tommy John surgery) are expected to extend into the season. As noted in the Baseball Forecaster, there have been hints that, despite some hiccups with his health (forearm, lat and finger strains), Weathers may be making progress...
