NEWS: San Francisco optioned right-handed reliever Camilo Doval to the minors and recalled right-handed reliever Landen Roupp.

BHQ SPIN: In a shocking move, the Giants demoted their struggling closer to Triple-A. The 26-year-old righty is in the midst of a career-worst campaign with a 4.70 ERA (44 IP) that has inflated throughout the summer. Doval’s biggest issues have been with the free pass as his 14.3% walk rate this year is nearly 5% higher than his career rate entering this season. He could make it back to the Majors in September if he improves his control in the minors, but if the Giants fall out of the postseason race, Doval (-2% PT) has an even smaller chance of being recalled....
