NEWS: The A’s placed OF Tyler Soderstrom on the 10-day IL with a left hip impingement and recalled SS Darell Hernaiz from the minors.

BHQ SPIN: Soderstrom will head to the IL for the second time this year, and there’s no guarantee it’ll be a minimum stint given the A’s position in the standings. His departure will cause quite the shakeup to the A’s defensive positioning. Carlos Cortes will take over for Soderstrom in left field, but it’ll be a quasi-platoon with Zack Gelof on the short side. Gelof will remain in the lineup at third base against right-handed starters, but will vacate the hot corner for Hernaiz to take over against southpaws.
