Los Angeles Angels RHP/DH Shohei Ohtani (elbow) has 'new damage' to his ulnar collateral ligament, according to what an MRI revealed Wednesday, Sept. 5. As a result, Tommy John surgery has been recommended.  Source: Los Angeles Times - Bill Shaikin
 
BHQ take: As expected. Close the book on Ohtani for 2018—and now very likely 2019. Ohtani's remaining projected IP will be picked up by LAA relievers who are likely irrelevant fantasy-wise. The interesting question now is whether he'll continue to DH through the end of the season—and how probable Tommy John...
