Tigers | Javier Báez placed on IL
Detroit Tigers INF Javier Báez (thumb) was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday, April 16, because of thumb soreness.   Source: MLB.com

BHQ take: Infielder Harold Castro is likely to see the bulk of SS PT while Báez is sidelined, though watch for the possible promotion of middle infielder Willi Castro from Triple-A. Harold Castro is a contact-oriented, line-drive hitter who displayed good speed early in his career, though his speed slipped in 2021. Báez was off to a hot pre-injury start, not yet showing his typical low-contact approach.   —Tom Kephart
