NEWS: Philadelphia acquired lefty reliever Gregory Soto and utility infielder Kody Clemens from Detroit in exchange for Matt Vierling, Nick Maton and Donny Sands.

BHQ SPIN: From the Phillies’ perspective, the key player in this deal is Soto, who closed for the Tigers during 2022, accumulating 30 saves. For much of the last two seasons, he has been outperforming his skills although during the second half of 2022, his performance - a 4.70 ERA - mirrored his xERA of 4.72.
