Updating previous reports, Houston Astros 1B Yulieski Gurriel (hand) will undergo surgery to remove the hook of his hamate bone in his left hand. His recovery timetable is unknown.  Source: MLB.com - Brian McTaggart
 
BHQ take: A later report has Gurriel missing 5 to 6 weeks, suggesting that he’ll be out for at least the first two weeks of the regular season. The versatile and deep Astros are more than capable of handling his absence without skipping too much of a beat, and the injury intensifies the spring battle for roster spots and playing time.
