PT TODAY: Carpenter injury frees up DH ABs in Detroit

AMERICAN LEAGUE  |  Jump to NL

Tigers

NEWS: The Tigers place outfielder Kerry Carpenter in 15-day IL with a shoulder strain. Utility man Andy Ibáñez has been recalled from AAA-Toledo in a corresponding move.

IMPACT: Low

BHQ SPIN: Carpenter sustained the injury while crashing into the wall after robbing a homerun.  Thus far he has sustained career norm level skills as his 168 PX is belied by a 68 CT%.  Carpenter’s AB are likely to lead to additional starts at designated hitter for Tyler Nevin while Andy Ibáñez will provide utility depth.  Ibanez has played both infield and outfield so far in AAA.  Carpenter’s PT has been reduced 5% at Nevin’s benefit until we see how his recovery progresses.
