NEWS: The Padres have signed Xander Bogaerts (SS, SD) to an 11-year, $280M deal.

IMPACT: High

BHQ SPIN:  The Padres collect another athletic SS and the best free agent hitter—.307, 9% bb%, 79% ct% over 557 AB in 2022—still available. PETCO Park may not be as offense-friendly as Fenway Park, but Bogaerts should be OK hitting in a loaded lineup that could boost his counting stats. Fernando Tatis (SS/OF, SD) is already projected for some OF time following a season of Ha-Seong Kim’s (SS/2B, SD) defensive excellence and reasonable production.
