NEWS: Chicago reinstated 1B/OF Cody Bellinger (knee) from the 10-Day IL and optioned 1B Matt Mervis to AAA-Iowa

BHQ SPIN: Bellinger returned to Chicago’s lineup on Thursday after being sidelined since May 16 with a bone bruise in his left knee. In a corresponding move, Mervis was optioned to AAA-Iowa after struggling (.167/.242/.289) in his first career major league stint. We’ve cut a significant portion of Mervis’ projected at-bats and split them between Bellinger and Mike Tauchman. Bellinger, who was Chicago’s primary center fielder prior to his IL stint, started at first base in his return on Thursday and is expected to see significant playing time there for the foreseeable future....
