NEWS: Houston acquired RHP Justin Verlander from the New York Mets for two minor-league prospects.

BHQ SPIN: Verlander returns to the city where he won two Cy Young Awards and two World Series championships from 2017-2022. There he will fill the team’s need for seasoned starting pitching as the Astros try to run down the Rangers in the AL West and get back to the Fall Classic. For now, Verlander takes the innings from Brandon Bielak, who was sent back down to Triple-A for depth a few days ago. RHP José Urquidy’s return later this week may mean we need to slice SP innings further, unless the team elects to go with a six-man rotation. RHP J.P. France, with a shaky-skills 2.85...
