Strasburg shut down for the year after rocky outing

In a controversial yet widely anticipated move, NL East-leading WAS has shut down its ace, Stephen Strasburg (RHP, WAS), for the remainder of the year. In his first full season removed from Tommy John surgery, Strasburg was superb, amassing a 3.16 ERA/2.88 xERA with an 11.1 Dom, 2.7 Ctl and 4.1 Cmd in 159.1 innings—just over 20 innings below his alleged 180 IP cap. The move was hastened following Strasburg's recent ugly outing vs. MIA in which he lasted just 3 IP, allowing 5 ER with three walks. Manager Davey Johnson felt Strasburg no longer had "bite" on his fastball.
