Tigers | Jose Veras to pitch in setup role
Updating a previous report, Detroit Tigers manager Jim Leyland said RP Jose Veras will be used to pitch in the seventh or eighth innings, meaning RP Joaquín Benoit will continue to serve as the team's closer. However, Veras could fill in in the ninth if Benoit needs to rest. Right-handed hitters are batting only .162 (12-for-75) against Veras with two home runs, eight walks and 30 strikeouts.  Source: MLB.com - Jason Beck
