Marte hits DL with oblique strain, Tabata recalled

The at-times dazzling debut of Starling Marte (OF, PIT) was derailed August 19 when the rookie outfielder was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right oblique strain. The DL stint will carry into September, at a minimum, and the nature of the injury suggests that Marte may need more than 15 days to heal.

In 95 ABs, Marte had collected 4 HR and 4 SB, but the skills say the speed (Spd 178) was more real than the power (90 PX). The HR total was the product of a 20% HR/F, and Marte may find high HR totals hard to achieve with a 55% GB% (though that hitting style does blend nicely with his speed skills).
