NEWS: Pittsburgh will activate RHP Jared Jones from the IL and start him on Friday night. He bumps RHP Carmen Mlodzinski from the starting rotation.

BHQ SPIN: Jones’ return has been anticipated for a long time, and he arrives basically on schedule from May 2025 Tommy John surgery. We’ve been projecting this timeline since the preseason, but have bumped his PT% a bit now that he’s completed rehab successfully. The surprise here is the bump of Mlodzinski to the bullpen, as he had acquitted himself reasonably well in the rotation, to the tune of a 3.76 IP/4.17 xERA over 55 IP.
