Melton shines in 2026 debut

AMERICAN LEAGUE

Detroit Tigers
NEWS: The Tigers reinstated RHP Troy Melton from the 60-day IL; RHP Connor Seabold was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.
 IMPACT: High
BHQ SPIN: Melton made his 2026 debut after missing the first two months of the season with a right elbow strain. The 25-year-old looked incredibly sharp during his four-game minor league rehab assignment striking out 16 in 11.2 IP with a scant 2 walks. While Melton finished the 2025 season in the Detroit bullpen, he is expected to get an extended look in the starting rotation this time around. The Tigers desperately need rotation depth as they await the returns of LHP Tarik Skubal (elbow) and RHP Justin Verlander (hip) from the IL.
