NEWS: The Red Sox placed newly-acquired 2B Curtis Mead on the injured list with a fractured wrist.

BHQ SPIN: After taking a red-eye back to Boston, Mead is expected to undergo further testing and examination on July 29 to determine the full extent of the injury. Mead has been quoted as saying that he is hopeful that he will be back on the field before the end of the season, but season-ending surgery has not yet been ruled out. To replace Mead on the roster, the Red Sox are expected to call up IF Nick Sogard, though with the team on the West Coast, he was not immediately available for the team’s July 29 game. Sogard, however, will likely serve as a reserve infielder. Instead, the platoon of 2B
