Giolito finally finds suitor in SD

NEWS: The Padres signed RHP Lucas Giolito to what is reported to be a one-year, pro-rated $3 million contract with a mutual option for 2027. 
IMPACT: Medium 
BHQ SPIN: Giolito pitched well for Boston in 2025 (3.41 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, 10.6% K-BB% over 26 GS and 145.0 IP), but was not available for the playoffs due to elbow soreness. After a normal off-season, he has been throwing regular bullpens this spring and will report to Single-A Lake Elsinore to work into game ready shape. Once he is ready he should be able to find a spot in the Padres rotation. It’s unclear when this may be or who he may replace at this point. We will assign 5% IP to Giolito, but that could vary depending on when he gets the call...
