NEWS: The A’s recalled 2B Zack Gelof from the minors and designated 2B Luis Urías for assignment.

BHQ SPIN: Gelof has spent most of his season at Triple-A after being the A’s everyday second baseman for a year and a half. His struggles with strikeouts have certainly been a hindrance to his reemergence at the MLB level, but the presence of veteran infielder Urías hasn’t afforded him many opportunities to break through. With Urías (-30% PT) being DFA'd amid an underwhelming 83 wRC+/0.1 fWAR campaign, Gelof (+40% PT) will get another shot to man the keystone position on an everyday basis.
