NEWS: Detroit Tigers placed LHP Tarik Skubal on the 15-day IL to remove loose bodies from his elbow; RHP Ty Madden was recalled from AAA-Toledo in a corresponding move.

BHQ SPIN: When it rains it pours. Detroit was already reeling from a spate of injuries to the bullpen and received the grim news on Monday that their 2-time defending Cy Young winner will likely miss 2-3 months. Skubal looked like he was primed for another Cy Young run as BHQ xERA (2.82) was right along the lines of his recent seasons. One minor quibble was that his K% (28%) was his lowest since 2022 and that is supported by a reduced SwK% (14.7%), also his lowest in three seasons. Perhaps these numbers were leading indicators...
