NEWS: Arizona recalled OF Ryan Waldschmidt from the minors and designated OF Alek Thomas for assignment.

BHQ SPIN: The DBacks surprisingly DFAd one of their most recognizable players, removing Thomas from the 40-man roster after a fifth-straight below-average offensive campaign. This year has been worse than the rest as he’s slashed .181/.222/.340 (100 PA) with a career-low 52 wRC+. Underlying metrics suggested he would eventually turn it around, and I’d be surprised if another club doesn’t give him the chance to do so.
