Cubs lose Taillon but ready to activate Shaw, Boyd

NATIONAL LEAGUE

Chicago Cubs
NEWS: Chicago is expected to place RHP Jameson Taillon on the 15-Day IL.
IMPACT: Medium
BHQ SPIN: Taillon, who left his start on Sunday due to a hamstring strain, is expected to be placed on the IL on Tuesday. The placement of Taillon on the IL should make for a smooth transition back to the rotation for Matthew Boyd, who is likely to return to Chicago’s active roster over the weekend, according to reports. Before Taillon’s injury, it was unclear who would get bumped from Chicago’s rotation, particularly given the emergence of Ben Brown. Taillon may have been a candidate to be bumped from the rotation given his below-average year-to-date performance; however, he will retreat to the IL instead.
