Williams tops short Thursday slate

Today's Overview/Schedule/Weather: There are only five games on this limited Thursday schedule. First pitch comes at 12:15pm ET with the Braves hosting the Padres. Weather looks clear across the league outside of a slight chance rain could pop up during that SD@ATL game.

Notable Starts:

Gavin Williams is enjoying a nice upgrade in skills this season (3.22 xERA, 29% K%, 22% K-BB%, 192 BPX) that is not necessarily evidenced by his 4.00 ERA. Both of his starts versus the Twins this season have resulted in a PQS-4 and he has struck out 11 in each of his last two. On four days of rest he has been electric this season going 5-1 with a 2.35 ERA, 0.96 WHIP, and 70 K in 57 IP. He is limiting left-handed batters to a .206 BA and .652 OPS.
