DAILY MATCHUPS: Ohtani dominates a weak Thursday slate

Today's Overview/Schedule/Weather: Of the 10 games today, two begin at 12:35pm ET with the others kicking off after 7pm. There’s enough mid-summer instability for weather to possibly factor in at a location or two. The likeliest venue to experience rain is Coors Field at around a 30 percent chance.

Notable Starts:

Shohei Ohtani comes into this one with perhaps the highest rating of the season. He’s almost a perfect five in strikeouts and rates above a three in the other categories. Ohtani has recorded five straight starts with double-digit strikeouts. Lately, he’s scarcely used his standard fastball, instead throwing more cutters and sliders. The Rangers feature a league average offense with a league average strikeout rate.
