DAILY MATCHUPS: Dirty deGrom dominates

Today's Overview/Schedule/Weather: A pair of doubleheaders – Pittsburgh at Cincinnati and Tampa Bay at Toronto – headline today’s 17-game slate. Those happen to be the only clubs playing in the afternoon. Boston has a non-zero chance for rain, but it looks like the weather should cooperate leaguewide. Aces predominate.

Notable Starts:

Jacob deGrom breaks our Pitcher Matchup Tool. Literally. The foundational piece for the tool notes a 5.02 rating as the “maximum.” deGrom is anticipated to exceed that in WHIP with a near-perfect 4.9 rating across the four categories. The Cubs aren’t even terrible. They’re roughly mid-tier in both general offense and strikeout rate. The game is at Citi Field so there won’t be any wind-related hijinks.
