Few people enjoy listening to stories of someone else’s fantasy baseball exploits, but bear with me here, as there is a larger point to make. This particular story is about back-to-back championships in a very competitive league—something that hasn’t been done in over 20 years in this league. However, this won’t be about crafty trades or smart free agent moves. It’s more fundamental.
To what can we attribute such success? Luck, yes. There was only a handful of injuries to deal with, and more than one player performing a touch above his abilities. But good fortune is part of most championship stories, and “go forth and be lucky” is poor fantasy advice.
