ROTISSERIE: 2012 Straight Draft Guide postmortem

Back in March, our annual Straight Draft Guide proposed a new, structured approach to the top half of a straight draft: the "Starting 12" plan. With the season now complete, we thought it would be appropriate to check back on how this new strategy played out in practice. (Spoiler alert: it played very well, indeed.)

The theory behind the "Starting 12" plan

First, a refresher as to the plan's structure. The goal is to tailor the first 12 rounds of your straight draft such that after 12 picks, you have rostered exactly:

  • 8 hitters (consisting of exactly 1 C, 1 1B, 1 2B, 1 3B, 1 SS, 3 OF)
