The very first Draft Radar column appeared in the old Baseball Forecaster newsletter exactly 20 years ago this month. At the time of its incarnation, it was just me, attempting to identify so-called "sleepers" and "gambles." These days, there are at least a half dozen columnists at BaseballHQ.com who conduct the same research for the more appropriately-named "undervalued" and "overvalued" players.

Neil Walker (2B, PIT) proved to a good power-average combination for a middle infielder during his 2010 rookie season, going .296-12-66 in 426 ABs. But the average fell last season, and it took another 170 ABs to manage the same HR output. Yet he did swipe nine bases. The question now is, can he put it all together?

Today's top closers can be tomorrow's bums. Just ask those fantasy owners who had Carlos Marmol, Matt Thornton or Jonathan Broxton last year. The key this year is to find last year's Craig Kimbrel.

In a surprising move, Houston manager Brad Mills named Brett Myers the team’s new closer. Myers has been a workhorse over the last two seasons, as he has averaged 220 innings per season, with a sub-4.00 xERA in both years. Now, however, it appears he will return to the bullpen, where he last pitched in 2007, when he saved 21 games for the Phillies.

In the “not exactly shocking news” category, NYY manager Joe Girardi has declared that CC Sabathia (LHP, NYY) will be his Opening Day starter. In an effort to stay strong throughout the year, Sabathia came into camp with a bit less weight that he was carrying last season.
